NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) – Washington, DC
Kim will once again be presenting sessions at this year’s NCTM Annual National Conference:
Session: Side-by-Side Math: Playfully Connecting Math Representations in Your K-8 Classroom
Description: Do you find yourself frustrated when students don’t make connections between manipulatives and paper-pencil representations? Join us as we examine a dynamic approach where students connect their understanding from manipulatives to other visuals and symbols. We will focus on selecting just-right tools in small-group settings as well as explore adaptations for whole-class instruction. Direct connections will be made to connecting physical, visual, and symbolic representations with KP Ten-Frame Tiles as well as to several Building Thinking Classrooms practices.
Details: This session will take place on Friday afternoon, October 27, at 4:00 p.m. Come by to see her if you’re going to be attending the conference!
